Work for the Township

Many people work together to make Pere Marquette Charter Township the progressive, efficient, pleasant place it is!  From Elected officials to full-time and part-time employees, Board and Commission members to volunteers, there are countless ways to be involved in your community.

This page will serve to let interested people know of any openings in the Township, and provide a means for interested people to apply for any open positions.  Please read carefully, as some positions are only open to Pere Marquette Charter Township residents.

Board of Review

The Township has an immediate opening on its Board of Review, which is the citizen-based committee that hears appeals on taxable values and various tax exemptions.  The Board has a busy schedule in March, meeting 3 or 4 times within a two-week period.  Other meetings are generally half-day sessions -- one in July and one in December.  To find out more about this position, please contact Supervisor Gene Jorissen at 231/845-1277 or by email at Gene@pmtwp.org.  Board of Review members must be taxpayers in Pere Marquette Township.

 Zoning Board of Appeals

We have positions open for two "alternate"s on the Zoning Board of Appeals.  ZBA meets in regular session four times per year, with additional meetings as needed.  Applicants for "alternate" should be able and willing to attend some regular ZBA meetings on a volunteer basis to become familiar with current issues and be able to step in when needed as an alternate.  Alternates will be paid for meetings they are required to attend.

Click here to read about what the ZBA does.  Click here to download a printable application which you can fill out and mail to us.  Members and alternates on the ZBA must be residents of Pere Marquette Township.
