Pere Marquette Charter Township provides Notary Services free of charge.  We have three Notaries on staff, so at least one is usually available during regular business hours.

A Notary's job is to witness the actual signing of a document.  They cannot verify the accuracy of the document, cannot give advice about the contents of the document, and they cannot certify that something is a true copy of the original.

If you need something notarized, DO NOT sign it in advance.  You must sign it in the presence of the Notary.  Bring proper identification with you, so the notary can verify that you are the same person whose signature is required.

If you need a "Certified True Copy" of a document, these must be obtained from the the place that originally issued the document.  A notary does not have the authority to certify that something is a true copy.
